Philippe Dorléans is a photographic artist who, at a time when digital images are invading our lives, has chosen to return to the roots of photography. He immerses himself in the magic of the beginnings of this art, at the time of the 19th century, when photography was not yet reproducible. Its objective is to rediscover the fascination of capturing an object, a landscape, a body or a face for eternity, on a plate of glass or silver paper. He seeks the expectation marked by surprise and the mystery of suspended time, a time when photography was still very close to painting, in particular to the impressionist movement which marked this period.

In his work, Philippe plays with time, experimenting with the duration of printing to create unique works. He has chosen not to reproduce his creations, making each print from his “impressions” series a unique copy. This approach recalls the beginnings of photography, where each image was precious and singular, like a painting painted with patience by an artist. Each of his photographs is the result of the moment captured at the time of shooting, without major digital retouching, thus preserving the authenticity of the image.

Philippe Dorléans lives and works in Saint-Pierre-en-Auge, France, where he continues to explore the boundaries of photography and art, seeking to reveal the beauty and singularity of each moment frozen in time.
