Olivier Clop is a contemporary French sculptor whose artistic journey began in the realm of cabinetmaking. It was through this initial profession that he found his way to sculpture, eventually delving into the realms of metalwork and welding. Fascinated by their ability to endure and evolve with time, these mediums became his new artistic frontier.
Drawn to themes inspired by the animal kingdom, wild nature, and prehistory, Olivier finds endless inspiration in the organic world around him. However, it is the challenge and allure of material recovery that truly captivates him. Constantly on the lookout for discarded treasures, he sees each find as an opportunity to breathe new life into forgotten objects. For Olivier, the process is as much about thoughtful consideration as it is about physical creation.
As a self-employed artist, Olivier embraces the freedom to diversify his activities, allowing him to explore various fields within the arts. This flexibility not only enriches his artistic practice but also provides opportunities to uncover intriguing materials. Economical yet rewarding, his approach to artistry is imbued with a sense of ingenuity and resourcefulness, reflecting his unwavering passion for creation and exploration.
