Artist (Painting, Sculpture)
Born unknown date

Lino Monopoli, born in Milan on 11/18/1950, began his artistic career in 1983 by carrying out studies in Indian ink on portraits. He creates portraits during live painting of passengers on public transport in Milan.
In the following years he uses mixed techniques with Indian ink and oil, and begins to make bas-reliefs with tin on copper (The Ballerina, Space Ballet, Horseheads, The Miser The Warrior, Pulcinella ), and to use tin (The crying nature , The athlete, Homage to Salvador Dalì, Self-Portrait ).

In 1986 he attended a course of the Municipality of Milan, held by the painter Reggianini. He prepares the first casts and makes his first sculptures in tin (Horse's head, Portrait of an unknown woman, Thoughts of man).

Subsequently he experiments with sculpture on wood, searching for figurative or abstract forms in the plasticity of natural matter (prehistoric animals fighting for life; horse's head).

In 1989 he uses clay and iron (Horse head; Horse head that moves, The Crucifix). Several works have horses as their subject, intended as an iconic symbol of freedom and pride.

In 1992 he casts some works in bronze (The thoughts of man; The dancer, Horse head). The sculptures acquire larger dimensions.

In 1996 he made the solo show "L'indisponente sua height", at the headquarters of the cultural cooperative "Barona e Satta"; (Milan)

In 1997 he made sculptures in stone (Neptune, Greek Warrior); participates in various group exhibitions.

Since 1998, while continuing to produce sculptures in stone, wood and metal, he resumes painting more systematically with oil, watercolor and airbrush.
In 1999 he had a one-man show in a town hall in the town of Varese Ligure.
In 1999, with Marco Giglioli and Davide Colino, he took part in ARTE in ICE with the work Ambiguity, symbol of a society in which the true face of man is the hidden one.
In 2000, with Marco Giglioli and Davide Colino, he took part in Ladn art in Livigno with the work “(Intorno al fuoco).
In 2001 he took part in the Navigli exhibition exhibiting various wooden sculptures (Crucifix in wood and slate, dancers in antique wood; the dancer)
In 2002, among other things, he created the Totem (an installation homage to Peru with a Peruvian idol and some masks)
In 2003: Sadness and joy the odd couple)

From 2004 to 2007 Monopoli developed wood sculpture, using trunks, stumps, of Ligurian trees. His poetics is linked to the study of chestnut and oak wood, from which he extracts cultural messages on the life of the local peasant civilization. The religious subjects (Crucifixes etc.) were donated to various churches.

The little mermaid, a sculpture from a chestnut tree trunk, measuring around 170 cm, is particularly suitable for introducing your personal exhibition in Sestri Levante, due to its proximity to the themes that arise from the culture of the area.

Some sculptures on wood: Horse's head, Portrait of an unknown woman; ...
