The images I create are snapshots of life at maximum authenticity- exuberant and packed with bursting energy and disguised absurdity. There is one optical illusion born from another. Is it the scene at hand, the shapes and details, both, or something else entirely? I seek to challenge the viewer to modify the typical way of reading conventional signs and patterns.

Nayanaa Kanodia is a contemporary painter from India. She is considered to be the pioneer of l’Art Naïf in India, a genre until then unseen and unheard of in a contemporary context. Renowned for her distinctive style, her paintings exude whimsy, featuring flat, bright polished surfaces adorned with vibrant and dynamic colors. Notable for their intricate details, patterns, and shapes, her works delve into the charming idiosyncrasies of her subjects with a blend of wit and gentle satire. Many of her pieces reflect the societal maelstrom of changes, capturing the dichotomy between clinging to cultural roots and the emergence of a new generation dependent on progressive conveniences.
Her artistic journey has garnered recognition and accolades, including an award from Megh Mandal Sansthan, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, in 2016. Nayanaa's paintings find a global audience, gracing public and private collections worldwide, such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (2001) and the Musée d'Art Naïf Max Fourny - Halle Saint Pierre in Montmartre, Paris. Represented by esteemed galleries in India and overseas, her work features in prominent auctions of Indian Contemporary Art on an international scale. She has held numerous solo shows and participated in various group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including ARKS Gallery in London, Commonwealth Institute, London, UK (1997), and the 'Reflections' Art Show in Hong Kong, China (2006). Nayanaa's paintings not only showcase her artistic prowess but also draw attention to critical social issues such as environmental protection, women empowerment, and social equality that resonate with transforming nations worldwide.
