Mimi Bondi
I am a self-taught professional painter born in France but currently living in Bondi, Australia.
I originally started painting a few years ago after seeing a painting from an unknown artist in a small London art gallery.
I was living in London at the time and seeing the striking combination of cyan again a dark background was like flicking a switch. The day after, I went to the art shop, bought a few tubes of paint and a paintbrush and started creating my own art!
I was craving bright colours I could only find in paint. It seems that I was not the only one in this situation as the response to my work has been much more than I could have anticipated: so far, I have sold over 180 paintings in the last 2 years and receive many commissions from Australian buyers but also from overseas (USA and Europe mainly), including a large piece (Mediterranean Memories) commissioned by a new restaurant in Double Bay, Sydney.
I have also been working as a professional graphic and web designer for over 5 years. Graphic design has taught me to look at the world and its details in a new light and it inspires me to create strong graphical patterns from shapes and colours I mentally photography when looking around me.
One thing is certain, my style is quite unique and I do hope you enjoy it!

My art aims to explore various feelings through the impact of (sometimes unexpected) colour combinations of bright colours and strong graphical movements. The effects are extremely varied: mysterious , soothing, intriguing, invigorating...
I find inspiration in Colour itself, simply by looking at the world around me: the aqua blues and greens from the amazing views in Bondi Beach or Tamarama, the earthy reds and yellows from the deserted outback, the vivid and luscious greens from the tropical forest of Queensland, the amazing lights of the city at night…
My work is abstract, discreetly hinting at the subject that was on my mind or at the mood I was in when painting. I consider each painting as a ‘window into the mind' where the viewer is invited to let his imagination run free… It is always surprising to hear what people see in my paintings, things that are quite oftendifferent to what the artist sees.
My work has always been true to itself, never pretending to be something it isn't. I create it because it makes me feel happy and alive and it exists simply to be enjoyed freely by everyone and without prejudice.
