Murielle Huvé-Lejeune is a contemporary French sculptor. Round forms come into existence for the artist as if by nature, molded by hand to create smooth and curvaceous surfaces that evoke a longing for gentle touch, tenderness, and reassurance. The artist aims for these shapes to possess life and express narratives. They embody the essence of a woman's womb, a nurturing mother's breast, a speaking head that yearns to sing, shout, remain silent, or even be mere spheres—always open, with irregular necks, an amalgamation of polished textures and cracks, showcasing exposed earth and enamel. They emanate a tranquil breath, whether through gentle exhalation or explosive expression.
Iron is another material that captures her fascination. She gathers fragments of metal discovered in the depths of cellars or along winding paths, patiently awaiting the opportunity to grant them a second life and imbue them with new significance. Caught between these two materials, she resolves to merge them together. Frequently, it is the metal piece itself that serves as her guiding force, guiding her in shaping its complementary earthly counterpart.
