Monique Salazar (née en Belgique en 1938) fait partie d'une famille d'artistes, sculpteurs, peintres et écrivains venue dans les années cinquante en France. Elle vit et peint à Pignans dans le sud de la France, dans les collines du Var où elle possède son atelier, face aux paysages lumineux des collines. Elle est diplômée des Arts décoratifs de Nice et a continué ses études du dessin et de la peinture à la Grande chaumière à Paris. Elle s'est aussi exercée à la poterie. Très tôt, ses gouaches développent un univers onirique, empreint d’un lyrisme chaud et coloré très personnel. Après une longue interruption dans son travail, elle a repris ses thèmes préférés avec la technique acrylique, plus souple et plus lumineuse. Elle a développé sa création avec une remarquable cohérence esthétique. Elle a participé à de nombreuses expositions dans le sud de la France et a reçu le prix Dieudonné Jacobs, "Côté art" en 2006.
