Depuis toujours Philippe Lamiral interroge le sujet et questionne la peinture qui le préoccupe beaucoup. Dans ses derniers tableaux, l’artiste nous donne à voir une peinture expressive qui se caractérise par sa matérialité plastique ! Il apporte une richesse picturale à la surface de la toile.
« Il faut être touché par la peinture et non par le sujet » dit Philippe Lamiral. Pour lui le tableau doit s’adresser plus à nos savoirs sensoriels et à notre mémoire affective qu’à nos connaissances !
Il crée ainsi un espace de rêve, un espace de liberté et un espace riche en expression sensible.
Aussi les motifs peints enfouis sous le magma coloré ne coïncident plus avec le réel mais avec l’ensemble de nos représentations mentales.
Le tableau devient une archéologie de l’artiste : peindre c’est affronter physiquement la toile et aussi son inconscient.
Le temps devient un facteur important : le temps nécessaire pour réaliser le tableau et le temps du regard pour appréhender la toile.
Philippe Lamiral travaille longtemps par couches successives sur une même toile et fait apparaître l’expression de la peinture ; il opère une transformation de la matière par l’énergie et par la volonté d’aller plus loin.
Il peint non plus le sujet mais la « peinture » et s’intéresse de plus en plus à la couleur !
Les paysages ou les figures qu’on reconnaît sous l’épaisse matière, dans la tradition classique des thèmes de la Peinture lui permettent désormais de peindre sans souci de signification…
