Kadjalli
Kadjalli's work is to pay tribute to the resilience of women around the world. Each painting testifies to their abilities to rebuild themselves in the face of life's trials.
The painting presents a powerful image of a woman, who most often looks at us with intensity and pride.
Placed in flat areas on the canvas, the deliberately dark tones of the faces respond to the tangy and colorful notes of the textiles, patterns and symbols. This subtle dialogue allows for strong contrasts accentuating the message of strength and resurrection/renewal. The use of these shimmering colors communicates the joy and serenity of these women who remained free despite everything.
The minimalism of the details that make up the faces further reinforces the acuity and determinism of the gaze.
Amazed and sometimes moved by the beauty of these living and sunny faces, the viewer is asked to question the place of women in the world.
Born in Alsace in 1972, Kadjalli has lived and worked in La Rochelle for several years. Trained in a graphic arts school in Strasbourg, it was through self-taught acrylic painting on canvas and paper that she decided to express herself.
