Jacques has a peasant's view of the beings and things of nature and life. He transcribed like a naturalist describing all the details of his discovery. He does not cheat with his subject, all in bright light contrasts and shimmering colours. Picardy architecture is not to be outdone: castles, churches or pretty residences, but also more modest houses attesting to ancient techniques such as half-timbering and cob... He also knows how to be Mediterranean, mountain or sailor when his travels take him south. Farm animals, horses and finally portraits and nudes complete the eclectic palette of our artist.
