I believe that the artist is something of a scientist, who also explores the world, but in irrational terms. Abstract painting is not only a personal emotional outpouring, but also an abstract icon of a new discovery, where attention is focused on something volatile but essential.
It is like the story of the blind side of the moon when the form of painting and content is equally important, or even the shape may be forming of a new content. Here I see a similarity with the instrumental music or architecture.
I think that the abstraction is our unknown, unrecognized or temporarily non-existent reality, something like the mushroom wine about which we don’t know anything. If ever mushroom wine is to be created, this abstraction will become a reality...

Visual artist born in 1961 in Riga, works in painting and photography. He graduate Liepāja Secondary School of Arts, Art Academy of Latvia and Šiauliai University, Faculty of Arts. Lives and works in Liepāja. Participant of Latvian, international and foreign plein-airs. In 1993, he participated in the Antwerp Art Academy's international photo project Art in Freedom. Antwerp'93 - within the European capital of culture. In 2007, he was at the two-month artistic residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. He took part in about 150 collective Latvian and foreign exhibitions and projects. Member of the Artists' Union of Latvia. He collaborated with many galleries in Latvia and abroad.
