I am the second daughter of the couple Sebastião and Irene Sbrissa, parents of seven children. During his life, my father maintained a strong connection with the Catholic Church, combining his religious activities with his profession as a lawyer. He wrote texts on philosophy and theology. My mother was a poet, drew very well and cooked with great art. Accompanying my father, I made decorations for religious events. Even as a child, he drew pictures for me during my school days.
The family always maintained a taste for art, which manifested itself in different ways, in poetry, music, painting and sculpture, especially among the brothers. It all started around 1980 with Renato showing photos of his paintings and sculptures during his visits to his family, when he came from Minas Gerais. Admired, Helena started painting and we encouraged her to continue. She developed a talent for sculpture, painting and dancing. Afterwards, my brother Artur started painting on canvas, which he develops with skill. Renê plays the guitar and Cláudio, the piano. Sérgio prefers to paint abstracts and write poetry. And then, the artistic miscellany happens in the family. Sometimes one helps the other, sometimes another shares experiences and knowledge about these arts.
In addition to studying piano, I have always been interested in drawing and painting. I made drawings with colored pencils and crayons. In 1994, Artur gave me paints and brushes as an incentive to start painting my drawings on canvas. However, I thought I would never have the ability to paint on canvas, so I kept my paints and brushes insecure for eight years. During this period I continued painting and drawing using only colored pencils.
In 2002, I suddenly remembered that material I had received from my brother. So I started painting with acrylic paint on paper creating a series of abstract drawings. Living in Cachoeira do Sul/RS, I attended the Atelier Livre Municipal and decided to paint on canvas. I attended practical classes taught by teacher and artist Nina Rosa Boech. I researched art and artists in the city's municipal library, when I fell in love with Vincent Van Gogh's work. I made some studies on canvas of his works using the technique with acrylic paint and brushes numbers 0 and 0.0. with high relief effect. I learned a lot about painting by doing these studies. I reinterpreted other artists such as Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and Aldo Locatelli. I identified with Van Gogh's impressionist style. My works are inspired by landscapes in Brazil, mainly in the state of Tocantins where I lived for eight years, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
In 2003 I discovered that I had breast cancer, which made me review everything in my life. I faced the disease and the treatment. During this period I reaffirmed my faith in God by following the Catholic religion. From that moment on, I decided to paint everything I admire in life. Living in Criciúma, I attended the plastic artist's painting group...
