Marian Bogatu is a self-taught painter and photographer born in Romania in 1973. Since a young age, he has been deeply inspired by nature and the beauty of the world around him, a passion that is reflected in his artistic work.
Marian grew up in the countryside, where he developed a deep love for nature and the colours it offers. In 2017, driven by this affection for the natural world and influenced by a family heritage, he started working in wood. This decision is partly the result of his long journey in the events industry, which allowed him to discover his true artistic calling.
Fascinated by the uniqueness of the shapes and colours intertwined in wood, Marian Bogatu specialises in wood carving. His works are created from roots, trunks or branches of very old trees, which he transforms into unique sculptures. This return to nature and woodworking is also a tribute to his great-grandfather, Ilie Bojoi, a renowned sculptor from the Radovanu commune. Ilie Bojoi left an impressive legacy of wooden sculptures that were acquired by the boyars of the time, while his wife Maritza, a local fashion designer, also made her mark with her creations, which were appreciated by the women of the village and the surrounding area.
Abstract art and wood carving are at the heart of Marian Bogatu's artistic approach. He combines his sensitivity to natural beauty with an innovative approach to woodworking, giving life to works that are both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition.
