Kirk Ruse was born in July of 1955. While living in several coastal communities, his father worked as an abalone diver off the southern coast of California. This early oceanic exposure culminated in a deep passion for the sea that is reflected in the tone of his work. Remaining true to his artistry and craft since the summer of 1973, his time spent in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Alaska, influence the varying colors of his pallet. Kirk expresses the triumph of technique over convention, possessing a strong quiet grace in his art. He paints with an honest simplicity, capturing moments that reflect inspiration. Kirk lives with his wife Patricia and their two Basset hounds on Camano Island in the Pacific Northwest.
