D’une famille d’artistes musiciens Catherine Carlier aime peindre depuis son plus jeune âge.Très tôt elle a pris le virus de la peinture ancienne, fascinée par les diverses recettes qu’utilisait son grand-père maternel pour enrichir l’huile afin de réaliser des copies de peintres flamands du XVI ème et XVII ème siècles. Mr Frédéric Carlier ,son père a exposé dans les ambassades en Afrique du sud,en Rhodésie et en Colombie,il réalisait des scènes de genre et des paysages animés de personnages. Catherine Carlier réalise des tableaux : huiles sur bois principalement : paysages animés de personnages habillés de costumes anciens.Son univers est chaleureux,foisonnant de couleurs et de contrastes.Ses personnages existent ils sont inscrits dans des scènes de la vie quotidienne ,ils manipulent des objets,font vivre des métiers ;ils sont profondément humains et visités par une paix intérieure que l’on imagine forte et sereine.
