Di fronte alle sue tele non si resta impassibili, ma ciascuno può avvertire quella sensazione per cui lo sguardo per un momento entra in contatto ed in intima relazione con la tela e i suoi soggetti.
Ciò che predomina e rapisce sono anzitutto le dinamiche ed i contesti. La pittura di Botta non è statica, ma fa si che in ogni sua tela, l’animale, l’oggetto o le persone, siano in continuo movimento all’interno delle scene o dei paesaggi in cui sono posti. Le rappresentazioni degli animali sono favolose. I colori perfetti ed armoniosi. Il tratto imperfetto conferisce perfezione all’immagine che non diviene artefatta, ma reale. L’animale viene fuori dalla tela, come fosse vero. Botta descrive scena di animali che sembrano lontani da noi, quasi dimenticati. D’altronde oggi siamo abituati ad altro tipo d’immagini, ma forse queste sono quelle più vere che ci appartengono.
Si capisce che il giovane pittore è attratto dal confronto con le tecniche pittoriche, laddove utilizza sulle tele oltre ai tradizionali colori ad olio, la carta di qualsiasi tipo e ritagliata, che conferisce materia e rilievo. Anche il tratto è fondamentale perché alle volte il pennello non riesce ad esprimere tutta la sua forza, ed è a quel punto che Botta lascia predominare la sola linea della spatola che diviene protagonista.
