Her technique, which she describes as "modern naive painting," begins with a dark background to add depth to her brilliant colors. Materials (tissue paper, cardboard, string, sand, pottery, etc.) are added between the layers of paint, as well as words, but without a subliminal message, just simple words. And this is the way Jan's imaginative landscapes are born.
