About the author
Stan Sweeney, a Pennsylvania native has resided in Richmond since 1983. A graduate of VCU with a BFA in Communication Arts and Design. He is President and Creative Director of Sweeney Creative where he creates advertising and branding for local and national clients.
Stan is a “plein air” painter. He paints from photographs he has taken on location. Stan paints outdoors to capture the true color, impression of light, shadow, cloud formations in nature. He paints landscapes, seascapes, sports, nature, people and still Life’s. His oil on canvas paintings have bold, vibrant impasto brush work. As a private pilot Stan’s knowledge of weather and clouds comes through his painted skies moving gently across the canvases. Stan shoots thousands of scenes for painting subjects. He is an avid participant in outdoor sports; cycling, sea kayaking.
Paintings are in private and corporate collections around the world. Original oils on canvas and prints in various sizes are available. Commissions available on request.
Stan plays percussion in the Richmond Concert Band.
