About the author
Dans l’enceinte de la grande maison et du jardin sauvage de son enfance, seuls le ciseau du sculpteur et les notes de musique troublaient le silence. L’immersion dans le monde de l’art s’est faite dès le premier instant, auprès de son père, le peintre et musicien Eugène Pech. Ses albums de jeunesse avaient pour auteur Picasso, Hartung, Bosh, les enlumineurs du Moyen Age, l’art pariétal…
La fascination était intense… Et demeure.
Divers cours et stages (dessin et peinture pendant l’adolescence auprès de Jean Baubois, peinture et photographie avec le GRaph dans les années 90 ) et la fréquentation d’ateliers d’artistes (notamment du sculpteur catalan José Bonhomme) nourrissent son parcours éclectique.
De 1971 à 1977, Caty Pech délaisse la peinture pour se consacrer à des études littéraires (Langue et civilisations espagnoles et latino-américaines) à l’Université Paul Valéry (Montpellier III). Le "réalisme magique" des grands écrivains sud-américains - Borges d’abord, mais aussi Carpentier, Cortazar, Vargas Llosa, Onetti, et le Garcia Marquez de Cent Ans de Solitude, bien sûr, ainsi qu’un séjour en Colombie- influenceront sa vision du monde d’une façon définitive.
Au cours de ses pérégrinations, la peinture demeure toutefois une constante. En 2002, Caty Pech installe son atelier à Cassaignes (Haute Vallée de l’Aude), et organise son emploi du temps d’enseignante à mi-temps, passant ainsi d’une production confidentielle et narrative, à un engagement professionnel et une peinture devenue plus abstraite.
Elle expose essentiellement dans sa région, et au CHANTIER, à Cassaignes 11190.
