About the author
Daryl DeLand has been creating artwork for over 20 years. His earlier works focused on figurative and abstract work with the use of line, bold colors and planar interpretation.
Daryl began honing his skills and refining his direction of work during his foundation classes at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois. He then transferred to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois to emphasize exclusively in art.
It was during this time that he developed his signature style; the use of bended lines. This style is expressed in a majority of his abstract work and transcended into his first gallery exhibition entitled "Bended Lines" at NIU's Glass Gallery during September 2003.
Daryl believes in expressing creativity in many forms, and does not limit himself to a particular genre. His rendition of realistic portraiture has earned him local accilades, while his bended lines helped him to reach a larger following.
His is now the owner of Art-By-DeLand, where he and his art consultant, Jenn Erwin, display his artwork online, as well as reaching local and regional galleries.
Due to the unexpected passing of his father, Ronald, Daryl is now his mother's primary caretaker. He accredits the love for his family for getting him this far in pursuing his dreams, and also believes his strong faith and relentless passion for art will continue to inspire him to create artwork indefinitely.
