Comme beaucoup d’artistes, j’ai commencé le dessin et la peinture très jeune. Et puis la vie et le quotidien ont quelque peu éloigné l’art de mon chemin. Cela me manquait indéniablement alors j’ai décidé un jour de m’y remettre sérieusement. C’était en 2011. Depuis, je dessine, je peins, j’illustre… peu importe les termes, en fait, tant qu’il y a de l’eau et de l’aquarelle.
Chacune de mes aquarelles représente un moment de vie. Je travaille d’après photos, d’après mes photos. J’y tiens. Car le travail photographique est la toute première étape de ma démarche artistique. Le sujet est important, certes. Mais plus le temps passe plus je me rends compte qu’il n’est qu’un prétexte. L’ambiance, la lumière et l’émotion sont les vrais objectifs.
Ma palette de couleur se restreint avec le temps. Je ne travaille aujourd’hui plus qu’avec 4 couleurs par aquarelle. J’adapte la gamme des couleurs en fonction du rendu final que je souhaite. Cette gamme restreinte me permet 2 choses essentielles pour moi. D’abord, elle me force à me détacher de la couleur réelle du sujet et me mène vers l’interprétation. D’autre part cela apporte une grande homogénéité de couleur tant dans l’oeuvre elle-mène que dans l’ensemble de ma peinture.
