Dans mes tableaux la lumière a le rôle le plus important.
Qu'elle soit naturelle ou artificielle, suivant son intensité, la position de sa source, les matériaux qu'elle rencontre, elle change notre perception de ce que nous voyons.
Je tente de la capter, d’en observer ses effets et de la restituer.
Pour cela, j'utilise souvent le pastel sur un fond noir. Le procédé semble alors inversé. pour donner du volume on ne dessine plus les ombres, mais on se concentre au contraire sur les zones frappées par la lumière.
Mes sculptures peuvent également jouer avec la lumière, par effet de transparence de la matière. Elle peuvent aussi représenter un mouvement, ou me permettre de donner une interprétation plus abstraite de la réalité.
Je travaille tout type de bois : dur, tendre, clair, foncé. Ce sont autant de matériaux différents qu'il faut à chaque fois ré-apprivoiser, qui m'imposent parfois une direction à prendre, rendant chaque pièce unique.
