Depuis deux années, il est interressé par les chaises du jardin du Luxembourg, en fin de journée, lorsque les gens sont partis.
"Je peins la foule lorsqu'elle est partie"
Mais les chaises ont de la mémoire, et racontent leur journée à ceux qui connaissent leur langage.
Et on se laisse aller à l'imagination de la vie sociale, les amours, la solitude, les séparations, les groupes en grande conversation etc...
Bref, beaucoup de vie dans beaucoup de vide.
Mais ce vide est plein de vie, de poésie, de romantisme.
Il règne la tranquillite, la sérénite, la douceur de vivre.
C'est le spectateur qui participe à la vie du tableau.
