Après trente années de pratique de la peinture accompagnée d’une formation l’ayant conduit à un diplôme d’état en 2013 de formateur en arts plastiques, Michel Darves a décidé de se consacrer entièrement à son art depuis cette date.
En 2016 il a été porteur de deux projets Normandie Impressionniste, à cette date il a aussi réalisé une fresque de 4 x 7 m. Il a donné plusieurs conférences sur la peinture, sept au total. Cela fait à présent trois années qu’il expose individuellement ses œuvres, tout en maintenant ses participations à des expositions collectives et en ouvrant régulièrement son atelier aux Grandes Dalles.
Cette année il a participé ainsi à une vingtaine de manifestations dont quatre expositions individuelles : au Clos des Fées à Paluel, au Bourg Dun, à la Chapelle de Grainval à Saint Léonard et au Chat Pître à Fécamp. Chacune d’entre elles avait sa propre logique avec une scénographie spécifique tenant compte du lieu.
L’exposition à Yport s’inscrit dans cette logique, elle sera originale de plus de dix nouvelles toiles d’une scénographie qui lui sera propre et elle sera abondamment commentée. Son thème repose sur le lien que l’artiste a pu faire entre les écorces qu’il utilise dans ses tableaux et l’humanité qu’elles lui inspirent.
