About the author
Liby Ousmane Lougué is a contemporary painter from Burkina Faso. As the daughter of an artist father, Lougué's journey into the world of painting commenced during her childhood. She initially dabbled in creating comics and small portraits, which she sold to her peers. Over time, this childhood hobby blossomed into a profound passion for painting.
In 2008, Lougué crossed paths with Hamed Ouattara, a renowned Burkinabé painter and designer. Although they collaborated and worked together, Lougué's artistic style remained uninfluenced by this encounter.
Inspired by and expressing admiration for the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lougué's artistic creations reflect her own identity. Much like Basquiat, Lougué employs her art as a means to convey her pain, emotions, and vision of the world and society at large. Through vibrant explosions of color, Lougué's works serve as poignant reflections of the societal ills that plague our world.
Lougué's art has garnered international recognition, with exhibitions spanning across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Her captivating paintings not only captivate viewers but also serve as powerful conduits for social commentary, inviting contemplation and introspection into the human experience and the state of our global society.
