About the author
Thierry Chavenon, a contemporary French artist known for both his prowess as a painter and his contributions to the realm of film production design, embarked on his creative journey after graduating from the École supérieure des arts moderne (ESAM). Beginning his career as a decorator, Thierry's talent caught the attention of renowned filmmaker Luc Besson, leading to an internship on the set of the film "Nikita."
Subsequently, Thierry's artistic vision found expression in prestigious film projects, where he lent his expertise as a production designer to films such as "On the Other Side of the Ring Road" by David Charhon and "En Solitaire" by Christophe Offenstein.
Despite his success in the world of cinema, Thierry's creative drive propelled him towards painting, where he found a medium to express himself beyond the confines of the silver screen. His paintings bear witness to familial artistic influences and reflect his experiences as a production designer. Whether in painting or cinema, Thierry Chavenon manipulates light, form, and movement to craft dynamic compositions.
"I like lit material, and even if they are rapid movements, I like that we perceive a powerful trail, something not asleep, perspectives, point of light, things that fade, erased over time, so quickly that there is a dynamism…" explains the artist.
Thierry's artistic universe manifests in black and white works characterized by gestural strokes reminiscent of action painting. Through subtlety and suggestion, Thierry's paintings provoke anticipation and evoke mystery, inviting viewers to explore the nuances of his dynamic and captivating compositions.
