I am Willemijn Mensens and a self-taught painter with an enormous passion for art. I paint because I find it fun and relaxing and I do this in a way that I want to try out at that moment, hence the diversity in my paintings!
I always use acrylic as paint. I always use canvas for the painting canvas. I finish my paintings with a layer of varnish so that you can enjoy them for a long time. The use of color varies from tone-on-tone to colorful, depending on the mood or the chosen subject (or both).
My work varies from abstract to figurative. Sometimes it becomes soft and mysterious, other times brutal and fiercely elaborated. The paint is applied in many layers. A contrast between movement and silence can often be found in my work. I like to work on different themes and experiment with techniques. There is a great variety in my style of working, which reflects my broad interests.
It is not the end result that is most important to me, but the road to it!
