Olivier Lavorel is a contemporary French artist. The city appears frequently in his work because he likes the puzzle-like and nearly labyrinth-like aspects of "urban accumulations". Large format canvases, precise framing, usually no sky, a dense, intricate, and harmonious urban fabric, a restrained color scheme, and facades, gables, roofs, and terraces that fit together and form an enormous puzzle or labyrinth make his paintings instantly recognized. Despite the fact that the man is present everywhere, there is no character in his works.
