Réunion

Sig puise son inspiration dans les scènes de la vie quotidienne. L'artiste compose ses œuvres sans calcul préalable, dans un trait dynamique où un subtil jeu d'équilibre se confronte à la disproportion et l'asymétrie, rappelant ainsi la ligne des statues africaines.
L'utilisation de couleurs toniques égaye ses créations.
Son personnage fétiche "la Kafrine" est né à l'Ile de la Réunion et il évolue à ses côtés au fil du temps. Elle aime à dire qu'il est comme un "doudou" qui occuperait son espace intérieur.
La Kafrine se plaît sur tous les supports et Sig s'approprie très vite les matières locales comme par exemple les morceaux de tôle des vieilles "cases créoles" ramassés de-ci de-là. Ainsi les traces, les déchirures, les couleurs de la matière vont orienter naturellement le dessin, telle une écriture automatique.
Les techniques que Sig utilise sont mixtes et le collage de papier lui sert souvent à habiller ses personnages.
Ses influences artistiques trouvent leur source dans la période africaine de Picasso, mais aussi dans les peintures et les illustrations du peintre américain Frank Morrison ou encore les œuvres d'April Harrison.
La singularité de cette projection féminine imaginaire ne laisse indifférent ni les yeux ni le cœur. Ce personnage stylisé conquiert rapidement les Réunionnais. En 2012, Sig reçoit le prix du public à la Biennale de l'Art de l’Éperon.
