My name is Katarzyna Moląg. I was born in Warsaw in 1988. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been interested in visual arts. I inherited my love for art from my parents, artists and painters – Gabryella Miłowska-Moląg and Michał Moląg.
As a child I pattended art workshops organized by “Galeria Działań” in Imielin, Warsaw – it was there that I was introduced to techniques such as linocut, sculpting in clay and painting on silk. My mother taught me the basics of oil painting. However it wasn’t until I was in high-school that I discovered my beloved artistic technique – batik. The secrets of this technique were revealed to me by Dorota Wielkosielec who runs batik workshops in Warsaw Cultural Education Centre since 2001.
In the Centre I also discovered my other artistic passion – opera singing. I graduated from bachelor’s degree studies at the Department of Vocal and Acting at The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, now I am a postgraduate student at The Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education in Warsaw, subject “Art therapy with elements of educational therapy”.
My works are inspired not only by the fascinating tradition of Indonesian art, but also, and perhaps above all, by the aesthetics of European representational art. Among all my normal, daily responsibilities creating my batik paintings is a breath of fresh, artistic air.
