Born in Brussels, John Rothschild studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels at the beginning of the 'sixties', after a year in the 'drawing' section. #039;after the antique" (charcoal) which he finishes with a first prize, he accesses the 'graphic, decorative and advertising arts' section. A three-year cycle, interrupted by military service, ended with a first prize with distinction.

He is also passionate about photography, and the professional magazine "LIGNES", in a portfolio that she devoted to him, then classified him among the 'young photographers who bring a constant and progressive regeneration to photography, in a constant spirit of research.

He works then a few years in advertising agencies, but family imperatives led him to take a completely different path. However, he carried out several freelance advertising works.

Later resuming an artistic activity, he mainly uses the technique of drawing, oriented towards symbolism and the female nude.

“Beyond soft eroticism, my drawings are nothing other than illustrations of a fairy tale,” he declares. These are not just simple images of bodies, but sometimes a reminiscence of real or fantasized memories of sweetness, of the warmth of a female body which accepts me, in the hollow of which I can take refuge. I like the quote: 'If it's black and white, it must be a dream.' A dream that sometimes turns into a nightmare. But the nightmare is also part of the dream, we have to accept it.

I find myself completely in what René Barjavel said: The countless soft curves that make up a woman's body, for #039;man who is in love with it, a landscape that he never stops discovering and that each movement makes new as on the day of creation."

Those and those who appreciate his drawings often recognize themselves in the existence of an experience, a personal memory.

He participates in numerous collective and personal exhibitions, and in several of them , he will be awarded the public prize.
