Un mot-bruit, un mot-fruit qui avait à sa naissance une étonnante mélodie. Un mot qui se mêle dans l’instant de sa renaissance à un autre entendu bien plus tard à Florence, un mot-cousin et qui glisse sur la langue mouillée. Un mot du Sud. Un mot long juste assez pour qu’on en déguste la musique magique. Un mot grave et doux : mira… miravi… meravigliosa !

Il suffit que le mot ressuscité rajoute à sa voyelle une brindille et me voilà perché. Un craquement doux sous mes pieds d’enfant niché. Je suis dans l’arbre du verger et je secoue ses branches pour faire pleuvoir sur le pré, avec des plocs sonores, des planètes minuscules et dorées.
Sous l’arbre, les paroles de mon père résonnent entre les mondes.
J’entends sa voix dans les intonations des habitués du café brun. Elle a les craquements chuintés que le temps met aux bribes de souvenirs et qu’Amsterdam colle au nom des canaux et des rues : à l’angle de Prinsengracht et de Vijzelgracht, tout me parle soudain de mon enfance avec l’accent de mon père.
