Born and living in Périgord, Jean Michel FAVARD studied in the field of human sciences and led a long career in the social sector, his artistic activity having constantly existed in parallel with his profession. He began to exhibit his works following a distinction obtained in the magazine “Practice des Arts” in 2007, this signal having encouraged him to present his work to the public. He participates in several exhibitions in his region during which he has received a number of distinctions and has regularly held personal exhibitions. It was also selected at international watercolor fairs. For several years he has devoted himself more to acrylic, this medium allowing him to use new possibilities, naturally following a long practice as a watercolorist with the intention of using more material in addition to the line and the value. The contribution and combination of different mediums of structure and texture together contribute to a contemporary rendering of his landscapes and seascapes. His subjects always resonate with the contemplation of a nature which takes us back to the elements and our deep roots, land and sea reinvented from figuration to abstraction. His approach consists of a transfiguration of landscapes and mental images to restore emotion and meditation by inviting the gaze to immerse itself in the canvas and move towards the horizon. It depicts a nature which retains its original part, which remains resilient in the face of the consequences of human depredation, to remind us that nature will always be the strongest whatever form it takes with or without us.
