Iskan's "Gray Goatie", oil on canvas

I painted this picture with Daler Rowney oils of England on stretched cotton canvas bought at the "Cultura" school and leisure goods megastore in Mandelieu, the French Riviera; the place is NOT Cannes, mind it, it just happened to be my nearest art supplies store in July 2015. Mandelieu le Napoule is adjacent to Cannes, and this store is between the two towns, so it is a Cannes suburb.

My grandson named this painting in July 2015 "Gray Goatie". I put into the GRAY GOATiE 26 months of my looking at the azure sky-sea-beach-surf, the quest for harmony accumulated over my life and the bomb of exalted labor.

The GRAY GOATiE made me nervous; I did not quite believe in the course of work that it would materialize. When I went first from blue to light azure and then covered almost half of the virgin white canvas, each color began to call for a specific shade, logically building itself up. I asked my grandson for a clue about the color scheme of the lower third but did it differently anyway. I gave the gray four overlays looking for the right shade of the GRAY GOATiE and found it ... on the vertical pylons and the frame of the ceiling of my apartment - a cold, not warm shade. Then it was all downhill: my grandson guided me with exclamations "No!" and "Wrong!" to the required shade.
