Or metamorphosis in place and function: old is new and table is cupboard.
By adding storage places the 200 year old table changes function: it is a cabinet that shouls occupy a central space. By the contrast between tightness of the storage place and playfulness of the antique frame can intrique the whole so as to form a harmonious whole.

The open function of the table is redirected towards a closed security. The cabinet is supported by the table in the room. They should be central.

Door toevoeging van bergplekken verandert de 200 jaar oude tafel van functie: zij wordt een kast die centraal de ruimte mag innemen. Door de tegenstelling tussen strakheid van de bergplaats en speelsheid van het antieke onderstel kan het geheel intrigeren om zo een harmonisch geheel te vormen. De open functie van de tafel is omgebogen naar een gesloten geborgenheid. De kast wordt door de tafel in de ruimte gedragen. Zij mag centraal staan.

Robert Van Den Herik is a contemporary Dutch artist. Drawing inspiration from magical realism and surrealism, particularly from the works of Carel Willink and Salvador Dali, he embarked on his artistic journey. Following his education at the Design Academy Eindhoven, he initially pursued a career as a product designer for different companies. It was during this time that he introduced his own innovative product called the Shantala baby bath, revolutionizing the way babies are bathed.

As his artistic exploration deepened, he delved into the realm of "Art versus Design." He began creating lighting fixtures, furniture, and garden decorations, all meticulously crafted by hand. In these creations, aesthetics often took precedence over functionality, allowing his artistic vision to flourish.
