I enjoyed drawing animals even in my childhood and my very first drawing was penguins in the arctic landscape which I found in my biology book, then came more elaborate animal drawings including our dog. During my art studies I used to visit zoos to draw all the exotic and colourful creatures. My African wildlife paintings were painted during my travels in Southern Africa and on my return between 2015-17. I got inspired not only by the animals in their natural habitat around me but also by the masterful wildlife paintings of local Malawian artist, David Kelly. My wildlife paintings are quite realistic and illustrative, often displaying a typical behaviour of a certain specie.

Biography
Ibolya Taligas is a self-taught watercolorist who has been residing in the United Kingdom for the past 30 years. Originally from Hungary where she studied Art and English. She continued her education in London and became an illustrator after finishing her studies. She decided to travel around the UK and seek out some of the areas of outstanding natural beauty. Equipped with her sketchbooks, paints and field easel Ibolya started her watercolour journey, recording all the beauty that surrounded her in the British countryside as well as in famous historic towns. After many years of painting on location she accumulated a large collection of artwork which she decided to exhibit online. To her surprise her humble paintings and sketches, as she calls them, attracted the attention of art collectors worldwide, many of whom became repeat buyers and friends. Ibolya continues to capture peaceful scenes of nature. Her work is displayed in private homes in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and many EU countries.

Artist Statement
As I begin applying the first layers of watercolour paint onto the paper quite freely, I go on a journey of emotions often evoked by childhood memories of my inseparable bond with nature. Never knowing exactly how the final painting will turn out I travel through my thoughts while defining the tones until I achieve a pleasing visual effect. I aim to trigger the viewer's emotional response in order to connect him/her to the subject, be it landscape, wildlife, botanical or still life.
