Gérard Scordia is a multidisciplinary artist who practices photography, digital art, painting and sculpture. Since his earliest childhood he was rocked by the word photography… Being young, his father worked for a photographer and his passion transpired on him.
His father then brought him all his knowledge in terms of development and black and white printing. His favorite places were the Biron flea market in Saint-Ouen and the Père Lachaise cemetery. Their atmospheres are impregnated with a strange, somewhat "mystical" feeling.
During the 80s he discovered the first camcorders and he was immediately seduced by their possibilities. This curiosity pushed him to carry out training (Shooting, editing in 1992) to work on professional equipment of the time (Beta sp). He then made a few films for training, safety and technology in the nuclear field.
Now that he has been retired since 2009, he has gone digital for both shooting and post production. Addressing particularly the themes of abstraction and views of the Perpignan region and Catalan traditions, his work is distinguished by a new light.
Gérard Scordia lives and works in Perpignan. His photos have been awarded twice in local competitions and he has also exhibited twice at the Off de Perpignan. He resumed painting in 2018 after a first experience in oil in the 80s. acrylic with a mixed brush and airbrush technique. And then from time to time he does a bit of sculpture to intrigue and frighten his relatives (Nkisi and Tsantsa).
