The advantage of digital photography over film is that in addition to allowing the amateur photographer like me to offer a look at the world, it frees me from the darkroom as well as from all the paraphernalia which I certainly would not have the patience to develop. My workshop is my garden, or that of others, the dumps, the flea markets, the street, the beach... provided that they are littered with objects whose contours or even consistency have undergone transformations, have been altered or remodeled by the weather. To grasp this change, this poetic transmutation, is to fix the inevitable necessity to evolve, the traces of the inexorable imprint of time. Rust presents itself to objects that have finally become useless, adorning them with fantastically changing colors, from red to brown, a luminous and warm palette on certain days, dull or even cold in other lighting. Seen up close, it gives relief to what was once smooth, reinterprets the materials in its own way, according to its imagination...or that of those who look at it!
