GERARD DUPUCH
Born in 1954 in Arcachon, Gérard DUPUCH has always had a taste for the fine arts. Turned to drawing at a young age, he took lessons during the school holidays of his adolescence, but he felt the need to maintain his independence.
Also, it is as an autodidact that he continues his artistic training, trying in turn all the techniques of drawing and painting without fixing his style, but letting it evolve according to his discoveries. He completed this training with numerous readings and visits to museums, from which he drew his first sources of inspiration. Then he discovers in modern expressions of communication, advertising in particular, enough to feed his imagination.
The meeting in 1984, of an Association of amateur painters, decided him to try the experience of the exhibition, that is to say, of the confrontation with the public. This will give rise to additional motivation to create a personal style to differentiate themselves from other artists. It is no longer enough to paint for pleasure or to learn, but now to exist as an artist.
A few excursions into the abstract or a return to more classical painting complete the range of research in style, composition or technique. For educational purposes, he also exhibits certain sketches to show the genesis of a work.
His current painting is characterized by a research on light and movement, translated by modern pictorial textures, called mixed techniques, which combine collages, acrylic, pastel and oil, flat areas and reliefs, in semi-abstract compositions. The surface of the canvas is treated equally between the motif and its environment, since the dynamics of the pictorial space originates in the background of the canvas, a veritable original magma of light.
This research pushed him to open the doors of photography which he uses for the construction of his pictorial work.
His works were exhibited first in Arcachon, his country of origin, then in Bordeaux and all of Gironde. Then in Brittany (Quiberon), in Toulouse, Nantes, Tours, and now in Corrèze, a new land of welcome.
In 2010, he founded the Corrèz'ART gallery in Tulle, with a few friends and devotes most of his time and energy to promoting art in Limousin in all its forms: painting, sculpture, ceramics, porcelain.
This gallery dedicated to quality amateur artists offers them a space of permanent visibility. She wants to make the bet to make them discover and appreciate by the public and then lead them to take the step of professionalism.
