Daniel Guermonprez continued his studies at the Beaux-Arts de St Luc in Tournai, Belgium, then at the Beaux-Arts in Lille and Paris.
Friend of Serge Poliakoff, of whom he was a student, he allowed him to exhibit at the first Biennale of Modern Art in Paris in 1959, inaugurated at the time by André Malraux.
He also meets Nicolas de Stael who fascinates him.
