Every subject encompasses nostalgic visuals that represent recollections of my childhood. Collective experiences from my fascination with celestial objects to rainbow doodles are objective memories that I compose within my artworks. “Bottom of a rainbow" was made like every artwork in the collection! Using doodles and the subconscious mind without a concept or sketch in mind each artwork was created spontaneously while I listened to the song bottom of a rainbow by Kimie Miner . Some artworks are created within an hour and some take days or weeks. Believe it or not, creating in this way is harder than any other work I create because a road map doesn’t exist before I begin painting like other works. There’s no sketch, no erasers, and no covering-ups. Each mark of ink stains the paper and is forever embedded within the work just as our memories are forever engraved in the past until a new mark is added.

Acrylic

A strongly tinted liquid or paste that is used to mark paper or other printable materials. The design is done manually with a slab, feather, brush, or straightener.

Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Invented in Europe at the end of the 15th century, this tool was very quickly used by great portrait painters of French royalty, such as Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin or Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who will be considered the "Prince of pastellists", thanks to a method of fixation of which only he knew the secret.

Pastel

Drawing made with a colored stick. It consists of pigments, a charge and a binder. A distinction is made between dry pastels (soft or hard) and fatty pastels (oil or wax).

Surrealism

Founded in 1923 by the writer André Breton, it will unite many artists like Salvador Dali (1904-1989), Max Ernst, René Magritte (1898-1967), Victor Brauner (1903-1966). Influenced by psychoanalysis, they see psychic life as a new field for renewing the arts. They will develop new ways to create and use new materials.

Technic Painting

Painting is an art form of painting on a surface by aesthetically applying colored fluids. Painters represent a very personal expression on supports such as paper, rock, canvas, wood, bark, glass, concrete and many other substrates. Work of representation or invention, painting can be naturalistic and figurative, or abstract. It can have narrative, descriptive, symbolic, spiritual, or philosophical content.

Brittany lives and works in Houston, Texas where she was born and raised.
She obtained her BFA in 2021 from the Academy of Art University. Her background as a painter, photographer, and innovator inspires her multifaceted compositions. Combining painting, unconventional objects, and sculpture she creates narratives based on memories exploring adolescent youth. Her most recent art series “Home Sweet Home” documents collective experiences that resonate with memories of childhood juxtaposed with the reality of adulthood. Using hazy acrylic layers creates an illusion of ghostly images imitating the reality of memory. Somethings you remember and some things you don’t but with repetitive reflections on each memory you begin to remember hazy little details of what was forgotten. Brittany's artworks strive to stand as a reminder to enjoy moments of the present instead of chasing fleeting moments of nostalgia of the past. Brittany’s works are included in the permanent collections of the International Collage Museum.
