Morisbi

Maurice Saubi was born on January 12, 1955 in Montauban.  From the earliest age, drawing and painting have been his favorite mediums.  As soon as he was 10, professional choices were made: "I will be a jewelry manufacturer or a painter!"
The two passions will meet a few years later.

A drawing school,a jewelry school provided him with the necessary artistic and plastic bases.  First figurative for drawing with the local Montauban sculptor Flavio de Faveri, he explored the watercolor technique for ten years and mastered the subtle transparent superpositions of colors fluidized with water.

Antwerp is one of the most important diamond capitals but also the seat of many Flemish painters. Maurice discovered  original masterpieces by Rubens, Van Dick, Van Eyck, Vermeer during museum visits.
Mixing oil colors with a paste medium, transparencies and opacities, shadows and lights are concentrated on the canvas.

Back from a trip to Vietnam, the discovery of Halong Bay forever engraved images of extraordinary beauty.

 From 1996 onwards, his painting slid towards what is called lyrical abstraction where colors and shapes are diluted in the middle of opalescent mists and rich transparencies.

Henceforth, Morisbi became his name as a painter.
