L’église Saint-Laurent à Marseille est un édifice de style roman provençal situé 16 esplanade de la Tourette, dans le 2e arrondissement de Marseille, à proximité du fort Saint-Jean. Elle est la paroisse des pêcheurs de Marseille.
L’église Saint-Laurent a été construite en pierre de taille rose provenant du cap Couronne au XIIe siècle ou au début du XIIIe siècle.
Elle a été gravement touchée lors du dynamitage des anciens quartiers du vieux port par l’occupant allemand en 1943. Cependant, elle n’a été restaurée complètement que dernièrement.
Le clocher octogonal de l’église date du XVIIe siècle. On y accède par un escalier hélicoïdal établi dans une tourelle.
Une passerelle relie le parvis de l’église au fort Saint-Jean. On traverse ainsi en hauteur l’Avenue Vaudoyer.

Jacques Peyrelevade is a contemporary French expressionist painter known for his expertise in oil, pastel, ink, and charcoal. His artistic canvas spans the vibrant landscapes of Marseille, the Mediterranean, Provence, and the East. Born in Marseille, Peyrelevade's upbringing carried the echoes of his familial roots, hailing from a lineage of farmers in Corrèze and Dordogne. Later, he delved into the extensive correspondence between Vincent and Theo, extracting invaluable insights into the nuances of color and line. While acknowledging the influence of esteemed artists such as Claude Monet and Nicolas de Staël, Peyrelevade attributes much of his artistic ethos to the Provençal school. Exhibitions featuring luminaries like Monticelli, Jean-Baptiste Olive, Marquet, Camoin, Verdilhan, Seyssaud, Ambrogiani, and Toncini left an indelible mark on his artistic sensibilities, shaping his distinctive expressionist style.
With each stroke of his brush, Jacques Peyrelevade breathes life into his canvases, capturing the essence of the world around him in a mesmerizing symphony of color and light, perpetuating the legacy of his artistic lineage while carving out a unique narrative of his own.
