Alguma história sobre Salir: Entre o barrocal e a serra algarvia, a cerca de 13 quilómetros de Loulé (Algarve, sul de Portugal), surge um alvo casario, rodeado por típicos campos de oliveiras, alfarrobeiras e amendoeiras: a aldeia de Salir. Foi aqui que, lá no alto e de difícil acesso à objectiva fotográfica, surgiu, entre muitas mais, esta bela chaminé branca matizada um com rosa brilhante de tanto sol. As raízes históricas de Salir são tão antigas que se perdem no tempo. Estudos já efectuados põe a hipótese de que já terá sido habitada pelos Celtas. Mas existe a certeza de que a Salir fora outrora encimada por um castelo, que terá sido construído pelos Almóadas no século XII - os Almóadas constituíam um califado berbere que governou na quinta dinastia moura, que surgiu em Marrocos. Presentemente dele apenas restam ruínas duma torre e de duas muralhas. Junto destas, existe um espaço museológico que preserva e divulga os estudos arqueológicos que ali se tem desenvolvido. Parece que o nome Salir tem uma origem lendária ligada ao alcaide mouro Aben-Fabilla e sua filha. Reza a lenda que o alcaide mouro, vendo-se ameaçado pelas tropas do rei português Afonso III, fugiu do castelo. Mas a sua filha ficou. Quando os cristãos entraram no castelo encontraram-no ocupado apenas pela jovem moura. Perguntaram-lhe porquê e esta respondeu que tinha preferido ficar no castelo a “salir” dele. Depois disto, do alto dum monte ao lado, Aben-Fabilla, seu pai, avistou a filha já cativa pelos cristãos e fez-lhe um aceno, cujo traçado desenhava no ar o signo de Salomão, com a mão direita, enquanto proferia uma reza mágica. Neste momento a sua filha transforma-se numa estátua de pedra. Desta forma, em memória deste estranho acontecimento, a pequena aldeia ficou conhecida por Salir. E ainda hoje os mais antigos acreditam que existem noites em que a moura encantada aparece no castelo de Salir.
