Didier Poisson
Didier Poisson is a contemporary award-winning French sculptor. The fundamental basis of the sculptor's creation are the relationships between material, language, and cognition. The artwork comes across as visual, sensory, spiritual, metaphysical, and symbolic in experience, with the artist's poetic temptation as he seeks to recreate the original emotion, and his view of an exalted reality in movement and sculptural shapes.
The artwork shines through in the diversity and variety of the subjects, and the artist achieves aesthetic perfection as well as the quintessence of balance, movement, and abstraction in each of his works. He incorporates and juxtaposes elements such as glass, stainless steel, iron, and wood with black marble and granite.
Didier Poisson was born in 1968, in France. His works are in private collections in France, Belgium, Netherlands, USA, Germany, Scotland and Armenia and he won numerous awards for his works.

The relationship between material, language and thought forms the essential foundations of the sculptor’s act of creation.
With the artist’s lyrical and carnal temptation as he strives to capture the original emotion, and his perception of an exalted reality in movement and sculptural shapes, the artwork comes across as visual, sensorial, spiritual, metaphysical and symbolic in experience.
This “materiality” and absolute sense of creativity are fruits of Didier Poisson’s talent.
Born on 28th December 1968 in Carentan (the Cotentin peninsula), this artist, whose remarkable sculptural craftsmanship comes through in the eclecticism and richness of the themes he treats, attains, in each of his creations, the height of aesthetic perfection as well as the quintessence of balance, movement and abstraction.
Using black marble and granite, the artist integrates and juxtaposes materials such as glass, stainless steel, iron and wood in certain of his pieces.
And when Didier Poisson incorporates colour in his sculptures, he explores and questions our optic and intellectual malleability.
The marriage of the artist’s materials and imagination gives rise to mysterious, sensual, ironic, celestial and lyrical creations.
With their seams of colour, harmonious language of curves and generous angular shapes, Didier Poisson’s sculptures are sweetly fragranced offerings that speak of love and secrets.
To be convinced, one need only look at “Circassienne”, a work of marble and pigments, where particularly enchanting curves remind us of the charismatic Andalusian beauties in their fiery dresses.
If Didier Poisson’s work portrays sensuality, poetry and elegance through the tribute he pays to women in his creations, a theme that firmly resonates in his work, it is his deep reading of the world and of existence in sculptural images and allegories that opens our agination
and subconscious.
In his execution of numerous public and private commissions, Didier Poisson has carried out several large-scale works of art, notably for the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings in 2014 at the Gouvix memorial, the Chateau de Sérans, Port-en-Bessin, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Saint-Michel de Montjoie, Jobourg, Caumont-L’Eventé and so on.
Honoured with countless exhibitions and awards, he won the “Arthur Le Duc” sculpture prize in 2007, and that same year, went on to be guest of honour at the veteran convention of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Atlanta. He has also won 1st prize at the “Salon des Indépendants” in Rouen.
With such an admirable artist as this, abstract sculpture has found its mentor.

Critism d'art
Black marble, the world’s purest marble, hasn’t left sculptor Didier Poisson cold: this noble stone has instead given rise to a series of fine, directly carved sculptures. Full, shapely forms draw the eye’s attention and highlight a fanciful world nurtured by sensuality and motherhood. The symbiotic couple is a recurring theme as seen in “A Man, a Woman”, “Couple” and “Fusion”, where distinct silhouettes are entwined to form one figure. But the idea of gestation is also evoked in the sculptures’ curves, like in those of “The Wait”, with a certain softness under the effect of the light reflected in the polished surfaces. The appearance of colour in the succession of black marble forms, like in “Evening Attire”, is startling. By breaking a reassuring repetition, colour acts as a sort of dazzling, dreamlike opening—a visual surprise that requires the onlooker to vary his observational rhythm and react differently. The work titled “Self-control” gives us a glimpse of the effort needed to hold it together: control, made from tension and constraint, is also a contortion of oneself. Here, angles coexist with the fluidity of rounded contours. Though the names that Didier Poisson gives to each of his creations guide us and allow us to understand the artist’s vision (“Free Woman”, “Guardian”, “The Awakening”), these sculptures, which may seem like embodied fragments of a poetic reverie, feed the viewer’s imagination and in turn give him the freedom to dream himself. This artist’s strength and grace of expression will continue to astound and hold us spellbound.

L'atelier

beau travail
mais quelles sont les proportion svp ?
