Catherine Martel, painter and photographer, began her artistic journey at the age of 7, when her passion for visual expression took root. Eager to capture and share her emotions through art, she decided to continue her training at the École des Beaux-arts.
Her academic career began at the Brest School of Fine Arts immediately after obtaining her baccalaureate in 1974. After two years of training, she continued her artistic journey, resuming her studies at the School of Fine Arts. of Versailles in the 2000s. Between these two academic periods, Catherine enriched her artistic skills by participating in numerous courses and workshops exploring various techniques.
Her artistic approach is vast and varied, and she considers her creative space a fertile field to cultivate. She draws her inspiration from emotions linked to nature and the elements, such as water and air in Brittany, as well as earth and fire in Lot-et-Garonne. His travels abroad also fueled his creativity by providing him with new perspectives.
Catherine Martel is an artist who is not limited to a single style or technique. She prefers diversity and experimentation, which is reflected in the variety of her artistic work. Despite this diversity, she finds her own artistic identity through all these facets of her art. His perpetual quest for meaning and expression is manifested by his constant search for new inspirations in his visual environment.
For her, art is more than a reproduction, it is a way of restoring in an abstract way the sensations that marked her mind. His goal is to preserve and share these emotions with his audience, thus creating works that transcend reality to achieve a form of poetic abstraction.
Catherine Martel shared her art through several exhibitions, notably during the "Artistes dans la rue" events in Versailles from 2011 to 2013. She also participated in fairs in Yvelines, such as in Guyancourt, Maurepas, Fontenay, Vélizy, Chatou , among others. In 2009, she exhibited at Salon Arami in Ermont, and in 2007, she presented her work at Galerie Art-present in Paris. Her artistic journey continues to evolve, and she remains open to the multiple sources of inspiration offered by the world around her.

ARTISTES DANS LA RUE 2011 Versailles le 17 septembre Place Notre-Dame
Présentaion de ma démarche
Je peins depuis l’âge de 7 ans et mon désir d’inscrire dans la durée mes émotions visuelles sur le papier ou la toile m’a amenée à m’inscrire à l’Ecole des Beaux-arts. J’ai intégré cette école tout d’abord à Brest aussitôt après mon baccalauréat dans les années 70, j’y ai suivi deux années de formation. Ce n’est qu’en 2008 que j’ai repris la suite de ce cursus scolaire à l’école des Beaux-arts de Versailles. Entre temps j’avais cependant suivi de nombreux cours et stages dans différentes techniques.
Je considère mon espace de recherche artistique comme un grand champ à cultiver, où je sème ce que j’ai glané de tout côté, sensations liées aux éléments, l’eau et l’air en Bretagne, la terre et le feu dans le Lot-et-Garonne. Ces régions ont en effet marqué ma jeunesse, et j’ai par la suite été inspirée par de nouvelles émotions au cours de mes voyages à l’étranger. Et si ce grand champ reste parfois un certain temps en jachère, j’y reviens toujours avec une énergie nouvelle.
Il y a tant de choses à exprimer qu’il m’est parfois difficile de choisir, car choisir c’est aussi renoncer, et ceci induit une grande diversité dans le résultat de mon travail, ce qui parfois étonne. Malgré tout je me retrouve et me reconnais dans toutes ces facettes. Je suis en perpétuelle recherche, et quand je ne peins pas l’idée est toujours en moi prête à surgir à la moindre provocation de mon environnement visuel.
Mon but n’est pas alors de reproduire mais de restituer sous une forme touchant à l’abstraction cette sensation qui a capté mon attention au point de désirer fortement à la fois la conserver et la partager …
