Calligraphy Art and the Pen
Exclusive Collection Curated by Artmajeur | 59 artworks
Calligraphy is an important and very old style in works of art. Works of art can be found from ancient antiquity. Whether it is medieval, Chinese, Japanese or Arabic calligraphy, all styles are allowed. Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing. It is the execution and design of a letter with a pen, brush or with the help of other writing instruments. Contemporary calligraphy can be described as "the art and skill of giving signs of form in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner". Modern calligraphy can be used for functional inscriptions or designs, as well as for artwork that may not be easily legible. Classical calligraphy is different from handwriting and non-classical drawing. However, a calligrapher can practice both. The brush and pen are the two most important tools for calligraphers. Calligraphy pens use nibs that can be flat, round or pointed. Multi-nib pens, also called steel brushes, can be used for decorative purposes. Although angular lines are not used in these works, they can be created with felt pens or ballpoint pens. Some styles of calligraphy require a pointed pen, such as gothic writing. You will find many calligraphies of all styles on Artmajeur. From the most classic to the most contemporary.
