Landelijke kunst
Ik ben Kees van Baest, 57 jaar en heb op latere leeftijd het schilderen ontdekt. Als kind heb ik twee jaar op een boerderij gewoond en daar is mijn liefde ontstaan voor het boerenleven. Mijn inspiratie zijn de schilders van de Haagse School.
De natuurlijke kleuren, de lichtval en de sfeer spreken me aan. In de loop der jaren heb ik mijn eigen stijl ontwikkeld. Ik schilder met veel gevoel voor vorm, kleur en detail. Het Brabant van vroeger is een belangrijk thema voor mijn werken.
