J'avais retaillé un carton toilé dans une forme que mettrai en valeur la position de la danseuse. Le fond était noir sur mon modèle, et comme une telle scène ne pouvait pour moi que se passer à Moscou, j'ai donc positionné la ville à l'arrière-plan. Il est à noter qu'une académie de danse n'existe probablement pas à cet endroit précis de la ville (ce serait purement fortuit).
Restait pour mon encadreur le défi du cadre, qu'il résolu merveilleusement bien en fixant le carton toilé sur une plaque de plexiglass transparente, qu'il encadra ensuite. Notez la bande extérieure du cadre et sa jolie imitation cuir.
Le tableau fut réalisé à l'époque soviétique d'où le titre un peu mélancolique "When I look to the west...". La phrase en haut à droite reprend le titre : c'est un phrase de la chanson "Stairway to heaven" du groupe Led Zeppelin.
Ce tableau a obtenu le 1er prix lors du Salon des Artistes Lorrains à Metz en 1990.

When a drawing teacher makes such a proposal and you are already motivated by the artistic thing, there is no hesitation. Christian responded to the opportunity and discovered the smoothness and reactivity of the material, its sensuality too: pleasure. This happened in 1974, at the age of fourteen. And quickly, gouache, pencil or pastels were practically forgotten.
A few years later, a solid technique had already asserted itself, through, most often, work inspired by photographic favorites. Christian will notably have the freedom to produce color paintings, from black and white photos.
His works still lacked a certain essence, that of conceptual elaboration, which will appear in the 1980s and will continue thereafter. This indefinable work, probably invisible, which allows an idea to mature for six months to progress, improve, or even vanish. Christian has an expression for this: 'cinema on canvas', because like the seventh art, he creates a real scenario of his work before using his brushes. There is no doubt that many of these ideas come from her passion for travel, such a passion that she stopped her production for a while. Prize-winning exhibitions have awarded Christian six times.
Christian is a multiple artist, in the sense that he is master of the freedom of his ideas; thus his subjects are diversity. If he is comfortable with his time, he does not lock himself in his fashions. And to extend the notion of multiplicity, he is also a photographer and writer-traveler. Open to the surprise of the future, he will gladly tell you that he is not yet... a sculptor.
