About Saroja La Colorista Saroja is a Dutch artist, recently based in Portugal. She lived and worked for many years in Pollensa, Majorca, Spain were she is called La Colorista. She also lived many years in Inda, were she started painting with oil on canvas. Already very young she won prices in painting and drawing. She studied informal art in Holland (portrait at the academy of fine arts in Maastricht) and in India (at the school of art and creativity in Poona) and learned from other artists, their styles and techniques, but basically she is self-taught and developed her very own technique, style and colour play. She started full time painting in India in 1988 with oil paint and the pallet-knife. Experimenting with colours in abstract paintings who often turn out as landscapes, seascapes, clouds or cosmic vibrations. Some are very vibrant, emotional, with strong colours, others are just very quiet monochromes with shades of one tone, all creating a certain feeling or atmosphere. Saroja's paintings vary from very small to very big. Being as well a musician it is in Saroja's art like in music expressing inner emotion without representing the real world. Many of her paintings are a dream world, the world she would love to live in. A memory of ancient prehistoric times. Saroja had individual exhibitions since 1988 in many different countries like India, France, Holland, Germany, USA, Australia, Spain and Portugal. Saroja's paintings are represented in different private collections of art in India, France, Holland, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Australia, USA, UK, Norway, Spain and Portugal. And her work is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Sa Pobla, Majorca, Spain.
